Why Alexis Sanchez Could Leave Arsenal for Just £25 Million

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez would be a "good signing" for Bayern Munich, according to club legend Lothar Matthaus.

The Chilean international's contract at the Emirates Stadium expires next summer and talks over a possible extension have been placed on hold until the end of the current season with Arsene Wenger hopeful an agreement can be reached. 'His biggest pro is that he can play in a central role up front and on the wings.

The potential arrival of Sanchez would be bad news for Douglas Costa, but Matthaus is not convinced the Brazil global has what it takes to play for Bayern following a string of underwhelming performances this campaign.

"Sanchez is a great player, he would be a good signing for Bayern", Matthaus told AZ. But despite the result, Walker, 26, has had one if his strongest seasons at right back, a fact that hasn't gone unnoticed by the likes of Manchester United, City and, now, Bayern.

Chelsea and Manchester City, who Sanchez scored the victor against in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final victory, have also been linked with a move.

Before the FA Cup Final against Chelsea, Arsenal face a daunting run of fixtures which could prove decisive as they look to finish in the top four this season.

However, a sizeable fee would definitely make the Gunners think twice about selling Sanchez and the fact that Bayern are not a direct domestic rival could push them towards selling their talisman to the Germans, or face the risk of seeing him join a domestic rival.
