Top 15 high schools in Northeast Ohio, ranked by U.S

Other Long Island schools ranking in the top 50 in the state were: Roslyn High School, 32nd; Herricks High School in New Hyde Park, 33rd; Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, 36th; North Shore High School in Glen Head, 37th; Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, 39th; Earl L. Vandermeulen High School in Port Jefferson, 41st; and Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School, 46th.
These lists are put together every year by U.S. News & World Report, which reviews more than 22,000 schools from coast to coast.
In making its list, U.S. News and World Report considers several factors: students who perform better than expected; disadvantaged students performing better than average; graduation rates exceeding the national standard; and the number of students ready for college-level work. The schools that took the top spots are best at preparing students for college and careers, according to a release.
Two area charters made a separate list of best charter schools.
Bronze medals were awarded to nearly 17 percent of eligible schools based on student performance on state exams.
This could be why Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School is absent from the list after past year ranking as the 25th best high school in the state.
Northwestern Lehigh and Parkland high schools also made the 2016 rankings, but are not included in 2017.
Four high schools is Edmond are among the 10 best in Oklahoma, the publication's 2017 Best High Schools rankings show.
The scores did not include International Baccalaureate test data because the organization was unable to supply U.S. News with test data as it did in prior years, according to U.S. News. Conestoga High School was named the 27th best STEM school in the U.S.
