NFL draft: Browns still searching for franchise quarterback

Heck, even I had him going third to the Chicago Bears in my "Notre Dame Mock Draft 2.0", less than a month ago.

Is it possible that the 49ers want some teams to believe they are going to take Trubisky so that said teams will try and trade up?

Picking Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2017 NFL Draft with general managers Doug Lesmerises, Ari Wasserman and Bill Landis.'s Mary Kay Cabot reports that quarterback Trubisky "is still under serious consideration by the Browns at No. 1".

What can the Jets expect if they draft Deshaun Watson, Mitch Trubisky, DeShone Kizer or Patrick Mahomes?

Conversely, this draft class is unusually flush with players who live to ruin a quarterback's day.

The Browns hold two first-round picks, No. 1 and No. 12, which Cleveland acquired in a trade with Philadelphia. They have brought in guys like safety Jamal Adams, tight end O.J. Howard and cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

I think he's worth a shot and he can be a quality National Football League quarterback if given the chance in the right system with the right coaching.

The Steelers will draft "the best player available" is what Colbert will say in some press conference in the run-up to the Draft. That wouldn't preclude the Browns from taking a quarterback later in this draft, just not in the first round. The Browns have plenty of time to develop a young quarterback, whereas the Texans may be anxious about wasting a talented roster because of poor play from Tom Savage and a rookie. I probably did think that. There are more needs than there are draft picks.

To get you through the week, remember the Browns' best draft of all time. For almost two decades, the Browns, once a standard of NFL excellence and now a league punching bag, have been running in circles as they try to find a quarterback to lead them from the darkness to relevance and respectability.

Whereas some teams might have taken him off their draft board, there are surely others prepared to deal with the fallout of selecting him.
