Grizzlies will need more from ol' Zach Randolph vs. Spurs

Leonard (43 points) led the San Antonio Spurs, but they suffered a thrilling 110-108 overtime loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday. "I've tried everything and the guy is just tough". He made only five shots, scoring 16 points and sporting a -7 plus/minus rating.

The Grizzlies also put themselves in a 10-point hole in the first quarter and Conley said defensively they were not as engaged as they needed to be at game's start.

The game was tied at halftime before Toronto slowly edged away in the second half, building a 10-point lead with 4 minutes left on Norman Powell's 3-pointer.

"As for his own player, Fizdale said plainly: "[Conley] is a superstar".

Khris Middleton scored 20 points as the Bucks overwhelmed the cold-shooting Toronto to take a 2-1 lead in their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series.

Heading into their first round series in the Western Conference Playoffs, not many people thought that the seventh-seeded Memphis Grizzlies would contend with the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs.

The series is now tied 2-2 and returns to San Antonio for Game 5 on Tuesday.

With Conley playing every bit like the Highest Paid Player in the NBA, David Fizdale getting the most out of a less-than-stellar offense, some typically gritty Grizzlies defense, and maybe another season-saving moment from a role player, this Memphis squad has more than enough to take down the mighty Spurs for the first time since the Grit n Grind coming out party in the 2011 playoffs.

Leonard definitely does "bleed antifreeze" like Grizzlies coach says he does.

Conley scored 35 points to go with eight assists and nine rebounds. When teams lock in on Kawhi Leonard with double teams and veteran players like Ginobili (scoreless for the series) and Parker become stagnant, Green provides the spark and scoring to carry the load. Just a fantastic basketball game. "The fans got their money's worth tonight for sure". "[LaMarcus Aldridge] contested it very, very well, and it went down". Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Leonard doesn't like to lose and with the series knotted up, he's going to do everything he can to deliver a vicious blow on his home court. They've won many times.

Starting point guard Tony Parker bagged 22 points for the Spurs. With the lead now to the Spurs Leonard would not settle for one three-point shot, he would follow up with the next score being another three-pointer. Randolph, who led the team to their Game 3 victory, had somewhat of a down night in Game 4, posting just 12 points on 4-12 shooting in addition to 11 rebounds.

During that first- and second-quarter run by the Grizzlies, Conley pulled off an acrobatic three-pointer while being fouled, which seemed to indicate how well things were going to go for him and the team.

Grizzlies: Fizdale stuck with the lineup that worked in the second half of Game 2 when Memphis outscored the Spurs 45-40 despite losing.

There were plenty of doubters when the Grizzlies splashed out on a $US153 million ($A203 million), five-year deal to retain relatively unproven point guard Conley nine months ago.

Channing Frye's clutch 3-pointer with 54.8 seconds to play gave the Cavaliers a 114-107 lead. Leonard was unstoppable, but they still lost the game.
