China warns U.S. to 'exercise restraint' in Korean Peninsula

The U.S. Seventh Fleet says the pilot was conducting routine flight operations late Friday local time during a transit in the Celebes Sea.
The Carl Vinson Strike Group includes the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, embarked Carrier Air Wing 2, Arleigh Burke-class guided- missile destroyers USS Wayne E. Meyer and USS Michael Murphy, and the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain.
Mr Trump, in his phone call with Mr Xi, criticised North Korea's " continued belligerence" and emphasised that its actions "are destabilising the Korean peninsula", the White House said.
"It's usually a tactic held by North Korea when they want to get the attention of high level US officials".
North Korea is the only country to have tested nuclear weapons in the 21st century, and such a step would be seen as a major provocation to USA forces in the area and South Koreans, who have placed their military on high alert.
"If Australia persists in following the US's moves to isolate and stifle North Korea. this will be a suicidal act", a North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said after Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop called the nation a "serious threat".
South Korea has put its forces on heightened alert.
North Korea leader Kim Jong-un has threatened "a great war" should tensions continue to escalate after the US.
Al Jazeera reported that the university's chancellor, Park Chan-mo, confirmed that Kim was detained by officials as he was trying to leave the country from Pyongyang's global airport.
Following a failed missile test last Sunday, fears that North Korea is preparing a sixth nuclear bomb test have been growing. It is south of the Tohara Strait, which is between Okinawa and the Japanese main islands in the Philippine Sea.
Mr Trump has vowed to prevent North Korea from being able to hit the United States with a nuclear missile and has said all options are on the table, including a military strike.
The US Pacific Command said Tuesday that training with the Australian navy had been completed, and that "the Carl Vinson Strike Group is heading north to the Western Pacific as a prudent measure".
