And then add long, worldwide flights and the mix of airline policies that vary throughout the world.
The video was taken the same day it was reported that United CEO Oscar Munoz wouldn't be promoted to chairman after video went viral of an incident two weeks ago in which a doctor was bloodied and dragged off an overbooked United flight.
The flight attendant has been "removed from duty" during American's investigation and the airline upgraded the woman and her children to first class for the remainder of her trip, CNN reported.
The video does not show the first part of the incident, and begins with the woman crying uncontrollably as a pilot and other airline employees stand by impassively.
A video posted to Facebook on Friday by Surain Adyanthaya - a passenger onboard American Airlines flight 591, from San Francisco to Dallas - shows an intense confrontation between a flight attendant and at least two passengers at the front of the aircraft while it is still on the tarmac in San Francisco. American says the woman on the flight on April 21, was supposed to leave her doublewide stroller to be stored in the cargo bay, not take it into the cabin. The flight attendant tried to remove the stroller, and in the process hit the mom with it, which another flight attendant in the video said was an accident.
"The flight attendant wrestled the stroller away from the woman, who was sobbing, holding one baby with the second baby in a vehicle seat on the ground next to her", Morgan said.
A male passenger in first-class then stands up and confronts the flight attendant. The attendant then challenges that passenger with "Try it, hit me".
And, although some passengers think the mom may have had trouble understanding the rules, the airlines said she did speak English.
American Airlines says the flight attendant has been suspended.
Olivia Morgan, who was standing in the plane's doorway with her daughter and waiting to board, told Fox 43, "The flight attendant wrestled the stroller away from the woman, who was sobbing, holding one baby with the second baby in a auto seat on the ground next to her". The flight attendant responds with, "Hit me".
"The flight attendant should not have been so aggressive and should have been more aware of the kids", he said. The witness says she asked the flight attendant what he was doing and he told her to "just stay out of it". While a concerned male passenger comes with anger and warned the attendant not to do it for him or else he will get a punch.
Bob Ross, president of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, which represents flight attendants at American Airlines, said that there were two sides to the story and "neither the company nor the public should rush to judgment".
In a separate report released Monday, labeled a "Hospitalization Case Report", the Chicago Police Department said Dao was observed striking his face against an armrest as aviation officers "attempted to escort" him from the flight.
