Fans of the X-Men movies will be happy as release dates have also been confirmed for Deadpool 2 and New Mutants.
Fox has set "Deadpool 2" for a June 1, 2018, release date - giving the much-anticipated sequel a prime summer opening as the first title to land on the date.
The four - yes, four - long-promised Avatar sequels are finally heading into production, and they've been scheduled for release on December 18, 2020; December 17, 2021; December 20, 2024; and December 19, 2025.
Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as superhero Deadpool.
Reynolds is also a producer of the films with Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning along with Drew Goddard assisting. Last month, Ryan Reynolds (aka Deadpool himself) uploaded a teaser of the film to YouTube and we've been counting down the days ever since. For the sequel, John Wick co-director David Leitch is stepping into the director's chair after the departure of Tim Miller. The movie, released in February 2016, was a sleeper hit, earning $783 million worldwide to become the top-grossing R-rated film of all time. New Mutants, which is directed by Josh Boone and follows a new team of young mutants, will open on April 13, 2018.
Meanwhile, it's not all mutants and mayhem on the Fox schedule; Steven Spielberg's Pentagon Papers movie, starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, will go nationwide on January 12, 2018. Steve McQueen's Widows has been dated for November 16th 2018, while Bryan Singer's Bohemian Rhapsody will open on December 25th 2018.
