Rajon Rondo could miss rest of National Basketball Association playoffs with thumb fracture

The Chicago Bulls may be up 2-0 in their best-of-seven series against the top-seeded Boston Celtics, but point guard Rajon Rondo has now been ruled out indefinitely with a fractured thumb.

Rajon Rondo's absence will not be the only personnel change for Game 3 of the Bulls-Celtics series.

Game Three is in Chicago tomorrow as the Celtics face the possibility of not playing in front of their home fans again this season.

"Shooting and length and athleticism", Stevens said before Game 3. We just needed to play for one another, and play for the moment which is at hand being in the playoffs and have fun with it.

But Rondo's loss is significant. "So I think my job is still the same: just to do whatever I need to do to try to help this team be successful". The Celtics were in a position to acquire Jimmy Butler or Paul George, two players who can go toe-to-toe with LeBron James, but Ainge decided not to make the deal.

There is a case to be made that the rotation should be shorter, allowing for more continuity in an attempt to avoid the lulls on both ends that have hurt them. Nine days from Friday would be a potential Game 7, for which Rondo left the door cracked ever so slightly for a return.

"It is (a concern)", Hoiberg said of losing Rondo's defensive presence. "But when you have a chance to put a guy in who hasn't been playing that much, a good time to do it is with that first group". "We have to figure out a way with our young point guards and other guys on this roster to just be better next game". "It's going to have to be the same with Rajon out now".

"I don't give a (expletive) about the line", he said.

But the biggest burden as the Bulls vie to become the sixth No. 8 seed to topple a No. 1 seed since the National Basketball Association expanded the playoffs to 16 teams in 1984 will fall on Butler. "I've done it a lot".

"It's tough when any of your soldiers go down, man", Butler said. "It's not about me". The Chicago Tribune added that the Bulls have until June 30 to decide if they make him stay or choose to part ways with him. Johnson played six minutes. This is the reason that you're here, to hoop.

"When you tear an ACL, your leg gets stiff every once in a while", Rondo said.
