In almost every tale of White House intrigue about the simmering battle between the Bannonites and Trump's more "establishment" advisors, Ivanka Trump is cast as a moderating influence on her father.
Demonstrating to all the world that women really are unbelievable multitaskers, first daughter Ivanka Trump was able to dine with Chinese President Xi Jinping and see her company win provisional approval from the Chinese government for three new trademarks on the very same day. Especially after three of her trademark requests coincided with Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Mar-a-Lago, people think her business is pushing the White House into unprecedented ethical territory.
In February this year, the New York Times reviewed nine databases, which showed that Trump companies hold about 400 registered foreign trademarks in 28 countries since 2000. She has been able to increase her popularity after posting a video of her children singing in Mandarin for President Xi during the Florida summit.
USA imports, nearly all from China, shot up an estimated 166 percent a year ago, according to Panjiva Inc., which tracks worldwide imports to the United States. They are both involved heavily in dealings with China.
"Put the business on hold and stop trying to get trademarks while you're in government", advises Richard Painter, who served as chief White House ethics lawyer under George W. Bush.
The "Ivanka Trump" name has been slapped on jewelry, underwear, mattresses and even powdered milk, according to NBC.
"She's elegant and confident and a truly successful woman", said Bridget Wang, 26, a master's student at the Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Controversy has swirled around Ivanka's use of her father's - and, now, her own- political platform for her financial gain ever since Donald Trump first announced his candidacy for presidency.
Ivanka Trump also gets her lowest marks from the millennial age bracket, similarly to the first lady. Romper reached out to the White House for comment, but did not immediately hear back.
Ivanka Trump was appointed assistant to the president last month, after previously saying she would not join her father's administration. In addition to applying for the new trademarks, Ivanka Trump Marks LLC has won provisional approval from the Chinese government for four since the inauguration. As part of her intellectual property strategy, Trump's company filed a series of applications to trademark just the word Ivanka in China. On the April 18 edition of MSNBC's For The Record, former Fox host and longtime Trump apologist Greta Van Susteren disagreed with her entire panel - Politico's Daniel Lippman, the Chicago Sun Times' Lynn Sweet, and USA Today's Eliza Collins - while defending Ivanka Trump.
China has also granted preliminary approval for 38 trademarks linked to Donald Trump, giving the USA president and his family protection were they to develop the "Trump" brand in the market. Considering she is a businesswoman with global dealings, this shouldn't be such big news. "If her trademarks are anything but routine they also would be prohibited emoluments from the Chinese government".
According to China's Trademark Office, Ivanka's brand already has 16 registered trademarks and 32 applications awaiting approval in China.
