Bucks dismantle Raptors, take 2-1 series lead

The Toronto Raptors reasserted themselves on defense. Toronto All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan missed all eight of his field-goal attempts, with that fact qualifying as one of the most impressive qualities of Milwaukee's solid victory. It is a high-risk, high-reward style that can spark their transition offence should they cause a turnover or a forced shot.
Milwaukee Bucks Head coach Jason Kidd was a no-nonsense player and must use that same approach to keep this team fresh and hungry when they are now the team being chased. "It's a tough way to live but I love our team's resilient personality".
Toronto reclaimed home-court advantage in the best-of-seven series.
The Raps were actually down 31 at the half in Cleveland in Game 5 of the conference final a year ago, or four points better than they were here in Milwaukee. The Raptors also got an uplifting performance from Serge Ibaka, who scored 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes after nearly being ruled out due to an ankle sprain he suffered in game one.
His 3 with 3:14 left got the Bucks within seven. Kyle Lowry is the third double-digit scorer and Jonas Valanciunas is grabbing 8.7 rebounds.
The Raptors shot just 33.8 per cent on the night and allowed the Bucks to 52 per cent.
"There's none", Casey said when asked if he had a logical explanation for the complete one-sidedness of the game. "If they get out of character, it's not a very good movie", Kidd said after Friday's practice. They didn't, thanks in part to Khris Middleton's continued hot streak in the series (he finished with 20, majority coming in the first half when the Bucks made sure to put the game away) and some fantastic bench performances, led again by Greg Monroe (16 points, 7 rebounds).
"They came out and threw the first punch", Toronto guard DeMarre Carroll said.
"They ambushed us", Raptors coach Dwane Casey said.
The Raptors went 4-1 this season following losses by 15 points or more.
Delly shines in Bucks' big win over Toronto. The 6-foot-4 Powell offered more quickness to counter the athletic Bucks. Powell finished with 12 points. He was held to just 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting. The Bucks have the defensive personnel to disrupt the Raptors' ISO-heavy offense focusing on Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Mike Conley scored 24 points and handed out eight assists as the Memphis Grizzlies snapped a 10-game postseason skid against San Antonio by routing the Spurs 105-94 on Thursday night.
Bouncing back from adversity isn't new for Toronto.
In February, the UFC went to the other side of the world for the first time, debuting in Australia to a packed house at Acer Arena. His pesky defense frustrated Lowry to the point that Lowry nearly swung an elbow at him right before a timeout. "You give something or take away something, it's on us to figure out what it is we can get, or what it is we can take away".
Giannis Antetokounmpo is freakishly awesome. Milwaukee was pretty much a Bulls town.
That set a tone for the Bucks, who fed off the sellout home crowd.
"Our tempo.in that second half came to a halt", Kidd said. "It's embarrassing to lose like that, especially in the post-season, to play like that on both ends". But they misfired more with the ball, with Antetokounmpo seemingly playing too aggressive at times.
Antetokounmpo was drafted by Milwaukee with the fifteenth pick, in 2013, at just eighteen years old, and two and a half inches shorter than he is now. "We tried to picking it up in the second half, but it was too late". Bucks starter Khris Middleton was the go to man early on, scoring 11 of his 20 points in the first quarter.
The Hawks were never seriously challenged by the Wizards, who were essentially a one-man team.
John Wall scored 29 points for the Wizards, but the point guard got no help from his teammates.
