Blake Griffin out of rest of playoffs with toe injury

Griffin has struggled with injuries throughout his career. He averaged 25.0 points and 6.0 rebounds during the first two games of the series against the Jazz. Last season that was a major factor in the Clippers' first-round loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin, center, and Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward, left, and center Boris Diaw (33) look for a rebound during the first half in Game 3 of an NBA basketball first-round playoff series Friday. Rivers has missed all three games of the series after being a key rotational piece and part-time starter for the Los Angeles Clippers this season. In the build-up to the game, this comment made headlines in the city and it turned a hostile environment at the Vivint Smart Home Arena a little more frosty, particularly for CP.

Los Angeles got by without Griffin in Game 3.

This is a pretty sad occurrence for Griffin and the Clippers.

"One of the biggest adjustments is we probably won't be able to play through the post so much", Paul said.

"They're a team that they keep fighting", Griffin said.

Even so, Paul overcame the Jazz's best efforts. Chris Paul knows what this years' playoffs means to this Clippers organization. He is still recovering from hyperextending his knee on the first possession of the series opener, and it could take a while before he is game-ready again. The Clippers are so much more risky when one/both are playing they way they are capable. Paul made four straight baskets to cap a 15-0 run and put Los Angeles up 103-96 with 2:09 left.

Paul followed through on the lead that he helped establish and iced two free throws to secure the Clippers victory. Then you go to the other team's gym and they win one game and, all of sudden, 'Oh my God, it's a series.' As if that's like a revelation. Paul stepped up his offensive output when his team needed to as well, as Los Angeles needed all 34 of his points on 54.5 percent shooting.
