Chelsea are favourites to win this weekend's FA Cup semi-final despite their recent stutter and Tottenham Hotspur's irresistible form, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino insists.
Premier League leaders Chelsea have a four-point advantage on second-placed Tottenham and with six matches remaining in the competition, and the FA Cup semi final between the two sides is an attractive prospect for the neutral viewer.
Tottenham can take heart from their 2-0 win over Chelsea at White Hart Lane in January, a dominant display that ended the west Londoners' 13-match winning streak in the league.
Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has suggested that Nathan Ake will get the nod to deputise in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham for Gary Cahill, who has been hospitalized this week with gastroenteritis. "We have achieved more points than any other team the last two seasons", he continued.
"We are fighting in our process, a completely different process to the teams in the top six too".
Tottenham have been on fire lately and that gives them an edge going into this one.
All we can do is win our games and hope that for once another club in the run in does us a favour this season and we would love nothing more than to snatch the league away from Chelsea at the end. Regardless of what happens during the rest of this season, we have to keep improving and get better for next season as well.
Wilshere's season and loan spell at Bournemouth are over after scans confirmed that he suffered a hairline fracture to his left fibula against Tottenham last Saturday but no surgery is planned and he will report back to Arsenal next week. "He's okay, he's doing well, he's still not with the group but he's at a very good level". "The FA Cup is a very important game".
Their record at Wembley, however, has been poor.
Conte downplayed the impact of the result on the Premier League run-in, which resumes for Chelsea against Southampton next Tuesday. To say Pochettino's side have momentum would be an understatement.
"Wembley is a massive stadium to play at - it's one of the best in the world and this stadium is all about the big games - and we need to shine when we come to play here". Last season we finished with 70.
Pochettino also responded to reports that defender Toby Alderweireld has rejected a new contract offer from the club, amid interest from Inter Milan.
