When Barry Ament and Coby Schultz create art, they just want to make something that looks 'cool.' But there is a much deeper meaning when you are surrounded by their work at Ames Bros.in Seattle.
Other inductees at tonight's 32rd annual ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York are Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur, Joan Baez, ELO and Yes. "It even means a lot to the artist". Now, Pearl Jam aren't quite metal (although who can deny their incredible debut album?) but this story does have a metal tinge to it. "We the people are the only ones who can create change", she said.
Concerns about the legendary singer/songwriter's health arose Wednesday when it was announced he was pulling out of Friday's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony due to an undisclosed illness.
The retired Late Show host, David Letterman, will be inducting Pearl Jam into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this Friday. "That's right - Tupac got Snoop Dogg smoking blunts", he said to laughs from the audience.
"It turned out, these guys in Pearl Jam were something more than a band", Letterman said of his friends. Alicia Keys paid tribute to him with a medley of his hits on the piano, followed by Snoop Dogg and T.I. rapping.
Steve Perry, the long-estranged singer of Journey, hugged his former band mates and smiled, but did not sing with them, as fans had hoped. They're true living cultural organisms.
One of the night's most anticipated performances belonged to Journey. Producer and disco pioneer Nile Rodgers received the Award for Musical Excellence.
Apparently, Snoop also shared a amusing story about going parasailing with Pac that we will just need to wait and hear about when HBO airs the ceremony on April 29.
