Mets scratch deGrom, place two on DL

Duda left Wednesday night's game with a hyperextended elbow.

The Mets have put both first baseman Lucas Duda and infielder Wilmer Flores on the 10-day disabled list, the team announced on Twitter. Collins said that if deGrom wasn't able to pitch Saturday, then Sean Gilmartin would start instead.

Bruce has played at first in three games in his career - all of them were in 2014 while he was with the Reds.

Catcher Kevin Plawecki was recalled from Class AAA Las Vegas on Thursday, while right-hander Jeurys Familia was activated as his 15-game suspension for violating the league's domestic violence policy ended.

A year after the Mets were beset by a bunch of key injuries while still earning an NL wild-card spot, Collins admitted the early-season rash of mishaps has "been a little frustrating".

Matt Harvey moved up a day to start in place of deGrom on regular rest.

DeGrom's setback was the latest to seemingly come out of nowhere. Cespedes, who injured his hamstring on Thursday night trying to break up a double play, underwent MRIs on his hamstring and was diagnosed with a strain, but Collins said he didn't know what grade. Collins said it was more than a mere cramp but that tests showed it wasn't too serious.

"We have Monday off, but I think unless he makes a miraculous recovery today, we'd be foolish to push him with the extra day on Monday", Collins said.

Mets manager Terry Collins may have set an unofficial franchise record on Friday afternoon when he spent the first 10 minutes of his pregame news conference discussing his team's latest round of injuries. Rivera will start at third base on Friday night.
