A handful of people working on this site predicted Boston would have an easy time with a sinking Senators team.
The Senators jumped out to a 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the second period.
Bobby Ryan's overtime power-play goal gave the Senators their second straight 4-3 OT win and the lead in the first-round Eastern Conference series Monday night.
"Well, uh, Sully #2, you see, I got wicked pissed aftah a Bruins playoff game and chose to be a jerk and just swipe it from a losah Senatahs playah".
NOTES: After playing Game 1, C Tommy Wingels was out for Game 2 along with veterans C Chris Kelly and RW Chris Neil as well as D Fredrik Claesson.
Despite outshooting the Bruins 18-10 through 40 minutes, the two teams were tied 3-3 going into the third and though it wasn't all Anderson's fault but he has to make a stop or two to give the Senators a chance especially at this time of year. Something then clicked with the Bruins as Noel Acciari, David Backes and David Pastrnak all found the back of the next within the span of eight magical minutes in the second.
WASHINGTON - Kasperi Kapanen scored his second goal of the game 11:53 into the second overtime and Frederik Andersen made 47 saves and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Washington Capitals in Game 2 to even the first-round series. Boston was a tad sloppy in the defensive zone their last time out so I think it is safe to say we will see a much closer, lower scoring match here as no team will want to blink first.
Boston's Tuuka Rask and Ottawa's Craig Anderson have been disappointing in net. Ottawa added another goal early in the second before Boston produced a dramatic comeback. "They're in every game and have a chance so we've got a lot of work to do yet", said winger Clarke MacArthur, who opened the scoring in Game 2. "But it's too bad we fell short".
That loud sigh of relief you heard Monday came from the TD Garden after the Senators blew a three-goal lead in the second period and managed to skate away with a 4-3 overtime win to take a 2-1 first-round series lead over the Boston Bruins. The Blackhawks won the series in seven games.
And after being on the ice for this morning's optional skate, Miller has declared himself ready to go, and so has his coach. "The crowd kind of willed them into it".
And Monday was the Patriots' Day holiday in MA and before the hockey game came the 121st Boston Marathon, with close to 30,000 participants pounding the pavement.
The fans were already in fine form before the teams hit the ice, whooping it up when the maniacal laugh of Ozzy Osbourne erupted from the PA system, signalling the start of heavy metal anthem Crazy Train.
Monday's game ended amid the controversy regarding the penalty call that led to the winning goal - Ryan's second goal in three games in the series and his third in the last four going back to the regular-season finale, after a 13-game goal drought. Hoffman controlled the puck and easily tapped it by Rask into the right corner of the net. "When it's 3-3 after the second period, it's a great opportunity for everybody".
The Bruins. The defense will be better with Miller back in the lineup.
