Haley's words, however, came a day after she said Washington was ready to take additional action after a United States cruise missile attack on a Syrian air base in Homs. Putin condemned the US missile strikes on Syria as an "act of aggression against a sovereign country" that harms U.S.
Following the suspected attack, US President Donald Trump launched air strikes against a Syrian government air base, and branded Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad a "dictator" who had "launched a terrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians".
USA -backed rebels groups have long pleaded for more US intervention and complained that Washington has only fought the Islamic State group.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said the strikes had left the U.S. "on the verge of military clashes with Russia". At the same time, Tillerson said Assad's fate would be decided by the Syrian people. Moscow has been a steadfast ally of the Syrian government and has defended it against claims of chemical weapons use in front of the U.N. Security Council.
"Developments in Syria have changed the situation fundamentally", Johnson said in a statement, according to a Reuters report.
Australia has hardened its position on the future of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
"Someone who uses barrel bombs and chemicals to kill his own people simply can not be the future leader of Syria", he wrote.
"The United States crossed red lines by attacking Syria, from now on we will respond to anyone, including America if it attacks Syria and crosses the red lines", the statement said.
"I think the real failure here has been Russia's failure to live up to its commitments under the chemical weapons agreements that were entered into in 2013", Tillerson said on ABC's This Week.
Haley disagreed, telling Tapper that the U.S. government has evidence.
"The recent USA attack will create a division among the countries in fighting terrorism and will divert the political talks to military solution".
Haley reiterated the comments of Rex Tillerson, the U.S. secretary of state, who insisted that defeating Islamic Stare was the priority for the White House.
At least 87 people were killed - including women and children - in the assault on the Syrian town of Khan Shaykhun last Tuesday.
"I don't draw conclusions of complicity at all, but clearly they've been incompetent and perhaps they've just simply been out-maneuvered by the Syrians", Tillerson said of Russian Federation.
Assad's principal backer, Russia, has said the chemical release in Khan Sheikhun was the result of Syrian jets bombing a rebel weapons store.
