Over 21000 expected at Trump's first Easter Egg Roll

The White House's Easter Egg Roll, a big event in Washington DC every year, is an opportunity for the president to meet and greet the public. In the weeks leading up to event - planning falls unto the First Lady and her staff - the White House spoke of a scaled back celebration, estimating 21,000 guests would attend (last year, 35,000 people attended Barack Obama's final event).

Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Barron Trump, and even first daughter Tiffany Trump also made appearances today to greet guests.

It was a special day for an Anchorage family, who not only got to visit the White House, but play in the president's backyard.

With Ms Trump permanently residing in NY, the White House did not announce the event would even take place until March. She has been working on this for a long time to make it ideal and we wanted to keep it just right, but before she speaks, I want to congratulate her on this wonderful day we're going to have.

The event kicked off at 7:30 a.m.as kids wearing "Make America Great Again" hats with bunny ears, pastel colored dresses, flowered bonnets, and other festive attire scoured the South Lawn for colored eggs.

He also joined kids at a crafts table, making greeting cards for US troops, while Melania Trump read Kathie Lee Gifford's book "Party Animals".

"They have to behave", Trump said. Melania and President Trump and their son listened to the song during the 139th Easter Egg Roll. According to Grisham, kids who attended the previous Easter Egg Rolls in the White House were not given the chance to enjoy all the activities as the grounds were too crowded. In a hilarious clip from the event, the first lady nudges her husband after he seems to forget to place his hand over his heart during the National Anthem.

Both Mr Trump and the First Lady have been slow to fill White House jobs, and at least one regular egg roll vendor took to Twitter, the president's favourite social medium, to remind the White House that a deadline for ordering the wooden eggs that are given out as souvenirs was approaching. "On behalf of the president and Barron, we wish you great fun and attractive days coming ahead of us", said First Lady Melania Trump.

8 Three-year-old Abigail (R) and 10-month-old Caroline (L) participate in an Easter egg roll race.

'I just want to thank First Lady Melania Trump, ' Trump followed.
