Isaiah Thomas expected to play Game 2, then return home to family

Thomas nearly lifted the Eastern Conference top seeds to victory with two late baskets in their best-of-seven first-round series opener against the Bulls, but the visitors survived to draw first blood, 106-102. Butler walked to the bench in the middle of a game on January 27 during a time when reports surfaced that he was unhappy with his coach.

However, after two games, they have a 2-0 lead and now seemingly have everything to gain. During two playoff games he has averaged 11.5 points, 10.0 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game, after tallying marks of 7.8 PPG, 6.7 APG and 5.1 RPG during the regular season.

Boston made pushes to keep the score close until a combination of Butler, Rondo, Robin Lopez and a vintage flurry of unexpected 3s from Dwyane Wade were too much for Isaiah Thomas to keep up with.

The Bulls stomped the Boston Celtics, 111-97 on Tuesday night, and the game ended with Boston's fans booing the hometown team. It appeared as if Boston was well on its way to tying up the first-round series, but then Rondo was able to pull the momentum into Chicago's favor.

It may take a lineup change, but the Celtics need to play quicker defense and find patience on the offensive side of the ball.

"When he was taken out of the rotation for a couple of games, he was great".

The Chicago Bulls powered past the Boston Celtics 111-97 Tuesday to take a 2-0 lead over the Eastern Conference top seeds in their National Basketball Association playoff series, while the Toronto Raptors avoided falling into an 0-2 hole. "I felt like that in the first half".

"We're playing on Friday. And then the defensive rebounding's an issue".

There was a moment of silence after the grieving Thomas led his teammates onto the floor and just before the playing of the American national anthem. He was really good in Game 1, and I thought they had a lot of guys play really well. That may mean more Tyler Zeller and Horford on the floor at the same time. Nothing is more important than life and family. So Thomas played, scoring 13 points in the first quarter and finishing with a game-high 33.

"[Rondo] was the key early in the game", Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said. "But we were together for some film, some walk-through, and we'll be back together [Tuesday]". The other team is looking at that.

"I could hear Rondo, 'Yeah, they gave up". If you were a sentient being just arriving to this corner of the universe you would have a hard time correctly discerning which team is the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and which team is the No. 8 seed. "I'm going to be there for him no matter what".

Rajon Rondo built a reputation in Boston as a player who consistently raised his level of play come playoff time.
