Internally, Nintendo had previously sold 400,000 consoles during its first week of sale in 2012 while the Wii sold 600,000. Interestingly, this also makes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild the fastest-selling Nintendo launch game of all time, in addition to being the fastest selling game in the Zelda series.
A research firm, the NPD Group, tracks the United States gaming industry suggested that the game company sold more of its popular games for the Switch than the units of hardware itself.
It is confirmed that more than nine-hundred thousand units of Nintendo Switch was sold last month.
The Switch version, announced at the latest Nintendo Direct, will contain multiplayer for those that want to play along with friends. However, it still has a long way to go to break the record of its sibling console, the original Wii, which sold more than 100 million units.
Breath of the Wild sold even better.
You can play the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild on the go. And the Nintendo Switch therefore has broken all records.
The Legend Of Zelda BOTW was one of the standout games for the year 2017, and the console which it was released on Nintendo Switch has also enjoyed great success and since its release the console has outsold even the heavyweights PS4 and Xbox One. The rendering of the game on the Nintendo Switch is astounding, with sharp and bright screens with powerful stereo speakers. Considering that the console launched on March 3, that's 28 days of potential sales - approximately 33,000 consoles were sold each day, on average. By the end of the year, there will be plenty of additions to the games library, with news games making an interesting use of the console's JoyCons. "Looking ahead, we are excited to share more about our plans for Xbox One, including launching the world's most powerful console - Project Scorpio - alongside an wonderful lineup of new Xbox One games", they said in a note.
