Mourinho tells Martial he needs to see more from French forward

Sunday's crunch Old Trafford encounter ended with Jose Mourinho getting one over his former club, running out 2-0 victors as the Premier League leaders failed to muster a single shot on target.

Mourinho explained how he had shut Chelsea down with relish and claimed his side would not have lost at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup last month had Herrera's dismissal there not disrupted his plans.

21-year-old Martial has made 41 appearances for club and country this season, scoring eight goals and chipping in with four assists.

He said: "He's working now, he's improving and if in this training session [this afternoon] the answer is positive, I would select him to be on the bench tomorrow". "I prefer to play for the title instead of 'don't fight for the title and stay calm.' We are lucky to have the pressure".

Rashford's display suggested he deserves to be given more chances through the centre, where United's top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic - rested on Sunday - has started nearly every game this season.

"The same way I know what they like, I think they also know what I like".

"Against Chelsea and Tottenham we were up against the two best teams in the league who move the ball well and with the attacking threats that they've got that's where we want to get to".

"We all know the next game and how you go for the final or you don't go and for this reason, you must put 200 percent to reach the final", he said. Otherwise we deserve another thing.

"I like to demand a lot of myself because I feel I can give more, and more, and more to the team".

"He was always a player that I play, always a player that I support because he was always coming in my direction, in the direction of what I want from a player, what I want as a Manchester United player, so I think it is about that".

"One is the Europa League and the second is to finish in the top four because I think playing in the Champions League is a very good objective for next season".

"For this reason we must have great enthusiasm to play these last six games".

But after being forced to accept a wider role at times this season due to Ibrahimovic's strong form, Darmian says that Rashford's display against Chelsea highlighted his potential to become one of the world's best.
