Cristiano Ronaldo scored both goals for Madrid in the come-from-behind win in the first leg, becoming the first player to reach 100 goals in European competition.
The Frenchman seems to be developing his own bold brand of managerial style at Bernabeu and it looks like Real Madrid are set to reap the benefits.
Sporting Gijon stunned Real Madrid's goalkeeper with a second goal from Mikel Vesga in the 50th minute.
Isco's first goal was a superb solo effort in the 17th to cancel out Duje Cop's opener for Sporting.
At Nou Camp, on the back of humiliating loss against Malaga and Juvetus, Barcelona had to dig deep to earn 3 points against Real Sociedad, a side which had just won one game in their last five fixtures. Isco has said that he wants to stay, but he also wants to play on a regular basis; given his recent form Madrid should give him the assurances he needs and get him to put pen to paper as soon as possible.
Kiko Casilla: Kiko Casilla couldn't save the two shots Real Madrid received in all the entire game.
Madrid will be hoping the in-form playmaker can retain his magical touch when they host Bayern Munich for the Champions League return leg on Tuesday night.
But Alvaro Morata headed Madrid level again in the 59th, and the pacesetters kept pushing until Isco netted the victor. Isco found a pocket of space on the edge of the area and drilled the ball inside Ivan Cuellar's near post.
Spain global Isco has featured for just 77 minutes in Madrid's nine Champions League games so far in 2016-17, despite being fit for nearly all of the campaign, and remained on the bench when Marco Asensio, James Rodriguez and Mateo Kovacic entered from the bench during last week's 2-1 quarterfinal first leg win at Bayern Munich.
- Alvaro Morata has scored 12 goals this La Liga season, three more than Benzema. They don't have many minutes, but that's what makes a team great.
Real Madrid midfielder Isco was without doubt the star of the weekend after controlling the game and scoring two excellent goals as Madrid made hard work of their 3-2 win over struggling Sporting Gijon.
Real equalised through a fine Isco strike just three minutes later.
"I haven't given up on the national team and I'm not going to", said Casillas, who has 167 caps for his country.
Sporting went straight up the other end to retake the lead as Vesga looped a measured header into the far corner.
"I have always made it clear that I want to be here for many years", he is quoted as saying by Marca.
