Israeli troops kill Palestinian who rammed West Bank bus stop-army

A Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli forces on Wednesday after allegedly trying to ram his auto into a group of Israelis in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The incident occurred at a major junction near the Gush Etzion bloc of Israeli settlements in the West Bank outside Jerusalem.

Israeli daily Haaretz said an Israeli man, 60, suffered a mild-to-moderate head wound, and was moved to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, in Jerusalem. He was eventually transferred to hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The Palestinian health ministry identified him as Suhaib Mousa Mashour Manasra, a 21-year-old from Sawahra village. The Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited self-rule in the West Bank, denies incitement and charges that in many cases, Israel has used excessive force in thwarting attackers armed with rudimentary weapons.

Since September 2015 Palestinians have killed 42 Israelis, 2 visiting Americans and a British tourist in a wave of stabbing, shooting and car-ramming attacks. The Palestinian auto crashed into the rear of an Israeli bus, before the soldiers shot him dead.

A Palestinian attacker rammed his vehicle on Wednesday into a group of civilians in the vicinity of Jerusalem and injured one person, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.
