Hawks' Paul Millsap says Wizards 'were playing MMA' in Game 1 win

He's not the best big man in the league like he used to be, and he's also not the seriously inconsistent potential locker room cancer he was at times during his stint with the Rockets.
The Wizards started off their 2017 postseason run with a 1 p.m. game on Easter Sunday.
Playing a day after 22-year-old sister Chyna Thomas was killed in a vehicle accident in their home state of Washington, Thomas led the Celtics with 33 points. Despite trailing 48-45 at the half, the Wizards turned it on in the second half, outscoring the Hawks 69-59.
"We were just setting the tone", Morris said. But we executed extremely well. Luckily, Malcolm Delaney ducked right in time.
Chicago coach Fred Hoiberg lauded his team's defensive effort, particularly how it outrebounded Boston 53-36.
Key matchup: How the Wizards guard Dwight Howard.
"Jimmy is obviously our best defender", he said.
"Keep "they" outcha life", he said.
"(Markieff) came out and was aggressive for us in the third quarter and got us going", Wall said. Washington raced out to a 23-12, but Atlanta's second unit fueled a rally that put the Hawks up as many as eight points before halftime. The Hawks will open the series in Washington for Games 1 & 2 on Sunday, April 16, and Wednesday, April 19, respectively, before returning to Atlanta for Games 3 & 4 on Saturday, April 22, and Monday, April 24. "We've just got to be ready to be prepared for their punch". But Wall is trying to get downhill on this play and look at the urgency this unit demonstrates by swarming him as he penetrates. Scott Brooks entered, and following a 2-8 start, helped the Wizards win their most games since going 54-28 in the 1978-79 season. Next game, they have to play some old-fashioned "Bud Ball" and get everyone involved. With me, it's just about being smart and taking the good threes. He also was mostly positive about Tim Hardaway Jr.'s contributions despite a rough 2-for-11 shooting night.
Washington Wizards' John Wall was remarkable in the Wizards' Game 1 114-107 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, leading the Wizards to an early 1-0 series lead as the 2017 National Basketball Association playoffs are in full swing. Wall was a blur at times, scoring 15 points in a third quarter that proved to be the knockout punch for Washington in Game 1. Washington plays at a fast pace to begin with, so turning the ball over allows them to play at the pace they want.
Bryce Harper, of course, is that person, and like John Wall, he had himself a helluva day on Sunday.
Seconds after feeding Morris for a dunk in his monster third quarter, Wall pointed to the court to deliver the message: "This is my house".
Said guard Bradley Beal: "We continue to feed off of that".
In 31 losses he played in, Morris shot 32.1% on 3-pointers and only 42.3% overall.
Along with Wall's production, all Wizards starters combined to score 99 points.
"With [Beal], you just reboot the computer every miss and just focus on making the next shot", Brooks said.
Schroder scored 25 points and Paul Millsap had 19 for the Hawks. Millsap said something about his foot being on the free throw line. "Usually the aggressor is rewarded".
John Wall and the Washington Wizards were on a roll in the 2015 National Basketball Association playoffs. But even though Washington looked good in winning a game of wild spurts, the absence of injured backup center Ian Mahinmi was noticeable, and the team came frighteningly close to having a serious depth issue to manage.
Gortat grabbed or tapped back six offensive rebounds for the Wizards in Game 1.
