Celtics embarrassed by 8-seed Bulls, down 0-2 heading to Chicago

Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas, still reeling from the death of his sister, Chyna, in a road accident at the weekend, had a quiet night. "It helps at the same time I knew the circumstances of what my team needed from me".

Thomas, who was emotional before the game and looking stunned the entire night, still managed to score 33 points in a game that saw the eighth-seeded Bulls manhandle the Eastern Conference No. 1 seed on the boards to get the win.

It's no secret that the Bulls' best offense outside of Jimmy Butler being a legitimate All-NBA player has been a missed shot. Regular season statistics and one game don't win a series. "All we can do right now is try and put our best foot forward", Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, who fell to 2-10 in his National Basketball Association playoff career, told CSNNE.

"I thought his pace was terrific", Chicago coach Fred Hoiberg said.

"I don't know what it is", Rondo said.

After getting thoroughly pushed around underneath in Game 1, the Celtics grabbed the first four rebounds of the night while scoring the game's first seven points.

"He's going to go home [Wednesday] to Seattle and then he'll rejoin us in Chicago", Stevens said. "So there's some guys that can do that, and we're fortunate to have one of them".

"That's how you win games, when it's a whole team involved".

Al Horford has underachieved in the first two games and doesn't play like a pure post player even though Stevens admitted that, due to matchups, the Celtics have no choice but to put Horford at the "4" and hope he can defend the low post. "They came in and took, and we have to do the same".

Butler added eight rebounds and eight assists.

When Thomas is off the floor, the Celtics don't have a creator that scares the Bulls, so they're being just as aggressive, without anyone to make them pay for it.

During the team's pregame shootaround TNT's cameras captured him being consoled on the bench by teammate Avery Bradley. We have to do a better job as a team being able to contain him. For those who really understand the game, they were packing the paint making us find shooters.

Thomas kept to himself after the game and wasn't available to the media again Monday. We're not down on each other. "He's putting guys in position, he's calling out sets, he's just been a very good leader out there for those guys and I think they feed off of that". "But we were together for some film, some walk-through and we'll be back together tomorrow". "It's a pretty good welcoming back - (people ask) for autographs and pictures, so they have to boo me (later)".
