Stage version of 'Frozen' musical casts 2 Broadway veterans

The design team for Frozen includes scenic and costume design by Christopher Oram, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Peter Hylenski.

The musical will be produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.

Stagecraft alums Patti Murin and Caissie Levy will star as sister duo Elsa and Anna in Disney Theatrical Production's Frozen.

Levy, who has starred on Broadway in Ghost, Wicked and the 2014 revival of Les Misérables, will create the role of Elsa, a young woman wrestling with powers beyond her comprehension or control.

Rounding out the cast are Jelani Alladin as Kristoff, Greg Hildreth as Olaf, John Riddle as Hans and Robert Creighton as the Duke of Weselton. Additional casting is to be announced. It will officially open on Broadway in the spring of 2018! Tony-award victor Michael Grandage ("Red") will direct. The show will be choreographed by Tony victor Rob Ashford with music and lyrics by the movie's composers, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Ashford also did the choreography for Disney's live-action Cinderella remake, directed by Kenneth Branagh.

"Frozen on Broadway will feature music and lyrics by the film's composers, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, with a book by the film's screenwriter and co-director Jennifer Lee", EW reports.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, the movie was released in 2013 and became the top-grossing animated feature of all time, with worldwide box office of close to $1.3 billion. It also won the 2014 Academy Award for best animated film. The upcoming animated-film-turned-musical is slated to open at St. James Theatre in NY next spring, following a tryout to take place this August in Denver.
