Netflix Users Have Streamed Half a Billion Hours of Adam Sandler Movies

At this rate, the best we can hope for is that Sandler shows a little mercy and doesn't keep increasing his movies' running time.

But Netflix, which spend is spending billions of dollars per year on original content, has clearly found a loyal viewership for Sandler's films, and one that fits with the company's goal to provide users enough original content that they don't need to go anywhere else to find something to watch. As part of the deal, Sandler agreed to develop, produce and star in 4 stand-alone films.

It seems as though Sandler has found a happy home because there are no obligations or expectations.

The company boasted that the streaming service will soon reach 100 million subscribers.

Netflix, for its part, looks at it like this: "We continue to be excited by our Sandler relationship and our members continue to be thrilled with his films". "Since the launch of The Ridiculous 6, Netflix members have spent more than half a billion hours enjoying the films of Adam Sandler." . That means that more people watched it than any other Netflix original movie or licensed movie on Netflix.

Right now, you can stream eight Sandler movies on Netflix.

This revelation from Netflix explains why Netflix recently extended Sandler's current deal from 2014 to include a further four films, for a total of eight feature length Adam Sandler films. Netflix has been promoting the film heavily on its splash page, but if this is the first you've heard of the name Sandy Wexler name, you can check out the film's trailer below. Wall Street was looking for Netflix to add 5.27 million new subscribers and Netflix had projected that it would add 5.2 million.
