Isco scored a last-minute victor as a weakened Real Madrid came from behind twice to beat Sporting Gijon and remain in control of the La Liga title race.
Isco's future is now uncertain, with the 24-year-old having just over 12 months left on his current Madrid contract, and having hinted that he will consider his future this summer in search of more regular playing time.
But Alvaro Morata headed Madrid level again in the 59th from a pass by Danilo, and the pacesetters kept pushing until Isco netted the victor.
"You know what I think of Isco, he is a player I like a lot and his place is here", said Zidane.
"He has the character to do what he did today", said Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. "It is in our DNA to fight until the end at Real Madrid".

Celta Vigo's 2-1 win in the Copa del Rey in January gave Madrid it's only loss in 23 games at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, where Zinedine Zidane's team has won 15 times and drawn five.
And this season they are on course for success in both La Liga and the Champions League as Zidane continues to impress since taking over in 2016 from the club's reserve side - Real Madrid Castilla.
"Isco played a great game". He has also only played 77 minutes in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking after the game in Gijon, Isco said that he understood that Zidane made the decisions and the most important thing was for the team to progress through the competition.
Isco received Lucas Vazquez's pass inside a crowded penalty area but somehow dribbled past two Sporting defenders before curling the ball into the top corner.
"I've already said many times that I want to stay here for a long time and I hope that is what happens", Isco told Spanish outlet AS.
The Real Madrid supporters have spoken: Isco should start for their team against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter final second leg.
Yannick Carrasco's low strike and back-post header put Atletico comfortably ahead either side of half-time.
