The game was great but not greater than Oklahoma City Thunder and Westbrooks performance.
Westbrook came into the game averaging 31.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists per contest.
The triple-double was the 79th of his career, which put him ahead of an National Basketball Association legend in the record books. According to Westbrook, his mentality didn't change when a lot of people states that the record set by the Big O won't be broken.
- Westbrook is the only player in National Basketball Association history to post a triple-double without missing a shot, having done so when he went 6-6 from the field and 6-6 on free throws against the Philadelphia 76ers on March 22.
No player has averaged a triple-double for an entire season since Robertson. He passed the ball to Samaj Christon, who nailed a 3-pointer.
The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered a stunning collapse, blowing a 26-point lead in the fourth quarter, as they were upset 126-125 by the Atlanta Hawks in overtime. He crossed the double-digit barrier five minutes later with his 10th rebound.
While Westbrook has been re-writing the record books, Pacers forward Paul George has been attempting to keep his team in the playoff hunt. "It's something you dream about as a little kid to be able to do that on the road, especially from that distance".
"Very, very blessed. I've got to give all the thanks from the man above", Westbrook said after the game. "I loved watching it".
"I could not be happier for him", Robertson wrote in The Undefeated. "If someone breaks your record, that means they've reached a level of excellence that is quantifiable in some respect, and you have to give them respect for doing so", Robertson wrote in a post on The Undefeated. Next on the list is Jason Kidd, who had 107 career triple-doubles.
NOTES: F Wilson Chandler had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Denver. The Nuggets held the lead through the second quarter and most of the third except for a brief tie at 58-58.
The Thunder faced a 14-point deficit with 5:56 remaining Sunday.
However, the Timberwolves lost to the Los Angeles Lakers (25-55) on D'Angelo Russell's last-second 3-pointer.
"I practice that shot every day pregame", Westbrook said.
"My motto is 'why not?', and I always stick by it, regardless of what people say what's possible and not possible".
