Thomas takes floor for Celtics' a day after sister's death

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas made an emotional return to the court on Sunday, a day after his sister Chyna had been killed in a auto crash.

"We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas", the Celtics said Saturday in a prepared statement.

A awful tragedy has struck the family of Isaiah Thomas just one day before his Boston Celtics were set to begin the National Basketball Association playoffs.

Whether or not Isaiah Thomas plays will play a huge factor into how this series goes.

The series between Chicago and the Celtics is going to be interesting - seems like a lot of people peg this as the series with the most upset potential and all the Butler to Boston rumors add an extra layer of intrigue to the whole affair. "So whoever is locked in on guarding him, guarding Jae [Crowder], guarding whoever it may be, like I always say, you win your matchup, you win the game".

Rajon Rondo: Playoff Rondo.

"He's a hell of a player", Butler said. Doing it in a best-of-seven series might wear him down.

Some fans, like the one below, even went so far as to call for his firing. Butler, who played alongside Thomas on the past two Eastern Conference All-Star teams, said he also was in awe of what Thomas was able to do. "Now they've got a confidence that Isaiah is going to have no matter what, so you gotta lock in on everybody". But can the Chicago product do the same for his hometown team?

Chicago outrebounded Boston 53-36 and Bobby Portis stepped up to chip in 19 points, but the main reason the Bulls took Game 1 was because Jimmy Butler took over in crunch time, just as he has all season long. Jerian Grant isn't a great option with Rondo back in action.

MAKING AN IMPACT: A concussion in early November slowed Horford down some this season, factoring into declines in both his scoring (14 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg) averages. Stevens said the decisions on his availability are Thomas' alone.
