Musician J. Geils Found Dead At 71

Following a welfare checkup, the 71-year-old was found unresponsive at his home i Groton, Massachusetts around 4pm on Tuesday.
Police were sent to his home on Graniteville Road for a well-being check at around 4 p.m. on April 11, 2017. His death is still under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
The group had several Top 40 singles in the early 1970s, including a cover song Lookin for a Love by the family group The Valentinos and Give It to Me..
"Centerfold", a tale of a man who is stunned that a girl he fancied in school has posed in an adult magazine, spent six weeks at number one on the USA chart, led by a video that enjoyed heavy airplay in the first days of MTV. "R.I.P. Jay Geils", he wrote.
They issued seven more studio albums in the 70s, but found huge commercial success with the launch of Freeze Frame in 1981. By the time the group released their self-titled debut album in 1970 they had shortened the name to The J. Geils Band. The band's official music videos for "Freeze Frame" and "Centerfold" were placed into heavy rotation for weeks on MTV. The band had a major hit in 1980 with "Love Stinks"-a favorite of film soundtracks for more than 30 years-before briefly launching into the stratosphere with "Centerfold", off of 1982's Freeze Frame". He moved to Groton in the late 1980s, and the small town honored the star by proclaiming December 1, 2009, to be J. Geils Day.
The band has been nominated four times for entry into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but have not been inducted.
But Geils wasn't only interested in music. At the time, Salwitz told Billboard, "It's great to be recognized, but it's a drag to be disappointed".
Tributes to Geils from fans, friends and fellow performers began to flood social media within minutes of the news of his death.
