Mamata on three-day visit Odisha from tomorrow

She will return to Kolkata on Thursday morning.

Trinamool had won the seat in last year' assembly polls.

She has acknowledged that a "transfer [of] votes" is taking place from the Left to the BJP.

Congress' Nabakumar Chanda was a distant fourth getting only around 1 per cent of the votes counted so far.

BJP, which has increased its vote share by more than three times, emerged as the main challenger of the TMC.

"I do not think about all these - when "Ram" (BJP) will become "Baam" (Left) and "Baam" will be "Ram".

Expressing happiness over her party's performance, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "This is the win of Maa- Mati-Manus".

The Trinamool leaders also accused the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the BJP of having a "secret understanding" that enabled the latter to increase its vote share and jump to the second spot, pushing the Left Front nominated Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate to the third position.

According to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national Secretary Rahul Sinha, the veteran leader dismissed the allegations as part of the state opposition's "political strategy". We do not do this... sometimes the CPI-M does it, sometimes the Congress, and even the BJP.

Dr Surjyakanta Mishra, CPI (M) leader said, "We need to bring an effective change in the CPI (M) leadership, along with changes in the political equation".

"Rajnathji told us to put these allegations aside and work hard to establish ourselves as the prime opposition of Trinamool Congress in the state", he said.

"Rajnathji said that the BJP activists and supporters all over the country are proud and excited about the way the party is progressing in West Bengal". In fact, it was the anti-TMC vote that the BJP managed to bag.

The Left Front and Congress however dubbed the defeat as the result of ongoing communal polarization in the state.
