IMD issues heat wave alert for Central Maharashtra, Marathwada

"We have already issued warnings for heat wave on April 15 as well as 16 for Vidharbha and Central Maharashtra".

Meanwhile, heatwave has continued to grip most parts of Rajasthan as well as parts of Haryana, Delhi, Southwest Uttar Pradesh, along with central areas of West Madhya Pradesh and a few districts of Gujarat. Nashik recorded 40 degrees.

The Marathwada region is expected to witness heatwave conditions today, which may subside tomorrow.

Scorching heat persisted in many parts of Odisha, mainly in its western region, while the mercury dropped marginally in the coastal belt following rains due to the impact of Cyclone Maarutha.

While in Mumbai the maximum temperatures recorded at Colaba was 34.2 degree Celsius the humidity recorded was 81% while the maximum temperature recorded at Santacruz was 34.5 degree Celsius and the humidity was 70%. Temperatures remained way above the normal mark at these places. Nanded and Parbhani, both in the Marathwada region, recorded 44.5 degrees and 44.2 degrees respectively while Beed recorded 43.2 degrees and Aurangabad 41.4 degrees.

In Pune, the IMD's observatory in Shivajinagar recorded 40.7 degrees, which was 2.9 degrees above the normal mark, while the observatory in Lohegaon recorded 42 degrees, which was 4 degrees above normal.
