I asked Kevin Durant about the mindset of a heavy favorite heading into the Warriors' first-round playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Because it's pretty good on defense, too.
The Portland Trail Blazers stand together during the singing of the National Anthem before the start of a game against the Utah Jazz at Moda Center.
Barely four minutes later, the Warriors had their first double-digit lead of the game, parlaying it into a 121-109 win in Game 1 of this first-round Western Conference playoff series.
Two-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, last year's NBA Most Improved Player, have both averaged over 23 points per game during the regular season.
Nurkić played at least one game with the non-displaced fracture, going for 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in 32 minutes in a 117-107 victory versus the Houston Rockets on March 30.
Green and Klay Thompson led the Warriors with +15 and +14 ratings, respectively; Green was just one assist away from a triple-double.
The Golden State Warriors clamped down in the fourth quarter to pull away to a 121-109 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday in game one of its National Basketball Association playoff series.
Game 1 is in the books.
Not only did Green post a near triple-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists but he sprinkled in three steals and five blocks just to put a bow on this Easter basket.
Golden State have also been solid on the defensive end and are 11thin opponent scoring, helped out by defensive titans Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala.
"I look forward to bringing you some cool content". "The problem was: They had 88 points".
The Portland Trailblazers and the Golden State Warriors collide in Game 2 at the Oracle Arena on Wednesday night. "I make great progress the last couple of days but I'm not there yet so we still waiting on that right now, undecided".
"We gonna show definitely if I'm going to play... that big guys matter in this league", said Nurkić. "Who else can do what Draymond just did tonight?"
"Draymond was unbelievable", Kerr assured.
The Warriors poured in six more points, extending the rally to 15-2 before it was snapped by a 3-pointer by McCollum with 6:36 remaining. Keep in mind, the Warriors were undefeated against the Trail Blazers in their four regular season match-ups, beating them by an average of nearly 20 points each time. Later, during the game-changing fourth quarter, Green sprinted from across the court and emphatically swatted Lillard on a driving dunk attempt at the hoop.
"To be determined", Stotts said. We've got to trust what we have and allow him the time to do what he needs to do to be healthy enough to play.
Those numbers were represented in the two meetings in Oakland, when the Warriors outscored the Trail Blazers 81-60 on threes. Tiring out the league MVP doesn't always work given the amount of stars on the other bench but it has proven to be a useful strategy to use against the team everybody is aiming to beat.
Focusing on the positives though, Portland was able to at least compete with the Warriors in last year's playoffs, which provides a glimmer of hope.
