Crystal Palace inflict damaging defeat on Arsenal

Monday night's 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday night is Arsenal's fourth consecutive away defeat in the Premier League this season; the first time Arsenal have suffered this feat under Wenger.

Andros Townsend, Yohan Cabaye and Luka Milivojevic were all on the scoresheet as Arsenal left south London with just two wins from their last seven games.

Arsenal are now placed sixth and struggling to keep their record intact. The Anfield favourite urged the Emirates club not to accept a top-four finish as a success. Their Champions Trophy qualification is at risk now.

Eagles fans were ecstatic with their team's display and many praised the Ivory Coast global for his dribbling and threat on the break throughout the game. Should they unexpectedly win that match, a final against Chelsea or Tottenham would await and an opportunity to end the season on the high of Wenger winning an all-time record seventh FA Cup.

There was so much to admire about the first half of Wenger's 21 year reign at the club, most notably the Premier League title successes in 1998, 2002 and 2004.

Long-serving manager Arsene Wenger was singled out for abuse, with an increasing number of fans calling for the Frenchman to call time on his tenure.

"We played a great game", he said. They are extremely disappointed and I can understand that, like we all are, but Crystal Palace were sharper than us. I've managed over 1,100 games for Arsenal Football Club, and we are not used to lose like that.

Arsenal were once again captained by Theo Walcott and, after hearing the displeasure from their own supporters, the England global conceded things are just are not good enough at present.

"I face it in every press conference at the moment but tonight I'm not in the mood to speak about it", he said after the match. We all know Arsenal are going through their worst spell for years, but the only way to take advantage is by playing well. What counts is how we perform on the pitch. "That's all I can say", he added.
