Star Wars: Battlefront 2 won't have a traditional season pass

The single player campaign will put players in the boots of Iden Versio commander of Inferno Squad.

Here's some unfortunate news for anyone who had a bad feeling about the fate of Star Wars: Rebels: The show's cast and crew confirmed today that the series' recently announced fourth season will be its last.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 has been officially revealed with this exciting trailer. Their efforts will make players feel like an awesome pilot, he promised, and assured media in attendance that Battlefront 2's vehicles will get just as much as attention as its playable characters.

"In Star Wars Battlefront II, we all wanted to really capture the essence of being heroic and how in Star Wars, anyone can become a hero", says Matt Webster, Executive Producer at Criterion. In a major gameplay change, these hero characters will now have their own career paths, allowing players to unlock new abilities for the heroes and tailor them to their play style. The multiplayer-only game felt sparse at its $60 launch price, but it slowly evolved over four post-release map packs, each priced at $15.

While matches in Battlefront 2 will be era-specific - you can't, for example, battle a Trade Federation droid army as the Resistance - the game's hero characters will crossover between eras.

Battlefront II will take place following the events of The Return of the Jedi, during the 30 year gap between the final film of the original trilogy and The Force Awakens.

Access to play Star Wars Battlefront II on November 14-a 3-day head start. "Star Wars Battlefront II will offer everything players loved about the last installment, and adds new modes that we know the fans want, including an entirely new story developed in partnership with Lucasfilm".

"EA has assembled an incredible set of developers to create a Star Wars gaming experience unlike anything fans have ever experienced", said Douglas Reilly, Senior Director, Digital & Franchise Management. In one mission, teased in the new trailer, players will be able to control Luke Skywalker in his familiar Return of the Jedi outfit.

During the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida, that PlayStation LifeStyle attended, EA held a press-only dev panel that was attended by DICE, and the studio revealed quite a few details regarding the campaign. It looks like we'll be playing as a member of an Imperial special forces unit.

Starkiller Base, Yavin 4 and Mos Eisley are new in-game locations for multiplayer.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is out later this year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
