Following its demonetisation move on November 8 past year, the government has taken a series of steps towards a less-cash, digital economy, notable among them.
However, it is yet to be cleared how does it actually work in Samsung S8. The Samsung Pay service uses a similar technology. Now card networks and issuer partners include Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Card and Standard Chartered Bank. However, only selected Samsung users can use this feature for now, we can expect more smartphones in mid-range to have this feature in future.
Out of the eight credit card companies here, seven have so far made a decision to take part in the service and LG said it is in talks with the remaining one, without specifying the name. Even UPI or the Unified Payments Interface has been added to Samsung Pay.
A customer with a supported device needs to download the Samsung Pay app and set it up.
"Samsung Pay is a highly secure platform as it works with three levels of security-fingerprint authentication, card tokenization and Samsung's defense-grade mobile security platform Samsung KNOX", the company said. After that authenticate your payment by/ using fingerprint or PIN and place the phone near the POS machine and you will be done with your transaction. The smartphone sends magnetic waves to a POS machine thereby eradicating the need to carry any debit or credit card.
Similarly, the user can select Paytm or UPI to make payments.
In the past days, Galaxy Ace 4 Neo Duos users have also reported getting the March security patch, which comes as build number G318MZDXS0AQC1.
Here is where the real problem begins. The list of compatible devices for Samsung Pay mobile payment solution includes Samsung Galaxy Note5, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016), and Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016). "With Samsung Pay, we give our consumers the smartest way to make digital transactions by far". It is to be noticed that the system only works on Samsung smartphones and specifically those which come with NFC.
As of February, Samsung has a 25.1 percent market share, highest among all smartphone makers in India. "Our plan is to eventually release a tool (in SDK) to enable third-party developers to make their applications and services Bixby-enabled easily". "We will try to give more benefits to consumers through LG Pay", said Kim Hong-joo, head of LG Electronics' mobile communications product planning unit. The company also confirmed that Tizen OS-powered Samsung Gear S3 will also get a software to update to support Samsung Pay by this month end.
