Westbrook achieved the feat while putting up 50 points, with an incredible buzzer-beating three-pointer sealing victory over the Denver Nuggets.
As for if Westbrook will play Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets, Thunder head coach Billy Donovan told reporters it had not be determined.
Westbrook picked up his 42 triple-double this season in a one-point win over Denver Sunday.
- By contrast Westbrook's averages for rebounds (10.7) and assists (10.4) are both lower than those set by Robertson, who racked up 12.5 rebounds per game along with 11.4 assists.
After breaking a 55-year-old National Basketball Association record, Oscar Robertson believes Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook can go on and make more history.
But with his 10th assist and the triple-double locked down, Westbrook went to work on the Nuggets' 10-point lead.
In 80 starts, Westbrook lead the league in points but was unable to will his side in to the playoffs without Durant's offence, giving many people the opinion that Westbrook could not make playoffs without Durant.
Kyrie Irving scored 45 points and LeBron James collected 32 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists, but it was all for nought as the Cavs dropped into a tie with Boston.
While many will believe that showing should clinch the MVP award for Westbrook, Harden feels the fact his Houston Rockets have eight more wins than the Thunder should have more of an impact.
"If he stays healthy, there's no reason he couldn't eventually break my career record of 181 triple-double games".
Westbrook almost broke the record in his last two games.
He then came up two assists shy in Friday's 120-99 loss to the Phoenix Suns as the Thunder shot 36.6 percent from the floor and Westbrook was just six of 25. He's been the main defensive assignment on MVP candidate James Harden in four games this season.
"Y'all are probably going to get exhausted of me saying the same thing, but I promise you I've been blessed with so many things".
"I'm so thankful to play the game I love every night", Westbrook said, adding that he would give the game ball to his parents.
With 2.9 seconds remaining in the game, the Oklahoma City Thunder were down 103-105.
