Unfortunately for Sevilla, though, Messi is back after missing his last two games for club and country through suspension.
It will be Messi's first contest in almost two weeks when Barcelona resumes its pursuit of league leader Real Madrid at the Camp Nou. "I didn't have another alternative because the ball was in the air".
It was ultimately a routine win for Barcelona, who slowed the tempo after scoring their third, mindful of a packed April fixture list that includes the two legs of their Champions League quarter-final with Juventus.
Barca is in a good form, as usual, they won 4 out of their last 5 games.
The trio didn't seem to be at the peak of their powers for most of this season, at least not as a unit, with Lionel Messi outshining the other two on most occasions, despite Neymar impressing with glimpses of his genius and Suarez with his prolific goalscoring. "As a striker you have a notion of where the goal is and it managed to help the team win", Suarez told BeIN Sports.
Suarez made no such mistake as he caught Messi s deflected cross flush with an overhead kick to break the deadlock with his 31st goal of the season.
Messi and his fiancée Antonella Roccuzzo were on hand to receive Suarez at the airport as he was coming back from worldwide duties.
Three minutes later it was 2-0 as Suarez turned provider to square the ball to Messi to finish off a rapid counter-attack. Pablo Sarabia fired straight at Ter Stegen in the 62nd minute before the half-time substitute fired into the side netting from a similar position soon after.
Of his hirsute half-century no less than 43 goals have come in Barcelona colours, including 27 Primera Division hits which put him in pole position to be crowned top scorer at the end of the season.
"We can't afford to keep doing it, conceding twice (in four minutes) is a big deal".
Sevilla striker Victor "Vitolo" Machin was sent off in injury time after being shown a second yellow card for a foul on Neymar.
Ahead of a mammoth 18-day period that sees the Galacticos go up against Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga, and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane gambled on the strength of his squad and was duly rewarded at Butarque.
