Director Rian Johnson reveals first trailer for 'The Last Jedi'

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017. There's a few things in this thing that you're going to want to get ahold of in your mind as fast as possible.

The first trailer for "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is out, and it does not disappoint. She said the film will go "deep" into Rey's story and reveal how it can be hard meeting your heroes - presumably alluding to a cranky Skywalker.

The majority of the trailer also seems to be showing Rey appearing to tap into the Force, where she's able to spot light, dark, and the Balance. The new footage shows Mark Hamill's Skywalker in a darkened cave saying, "It's time for the Jedi to end".

That film, which starred Ridley, Driver and John Boyega, made more than $2 billion at the worldwide box office. Check out the Last Jedi trailer screenshots in the gallery below! "Part of me did fall in love with her".

J. J. Abrams' The Force Awakens, in all its playful imitation of the original films, managed to present a new cast of characters who were compelling, and to whom the audience could become quickly endeared.

Johnson also spoke about how Fisher contributed in ways other than on screen, with the pair meeting together to help firm up the film's screenplay.

The movie picks up where "The Force Awakens" left off with characters Rey, Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren.

He told a University of Southern California conference: "Her performance, which we're really pleased with, remains as it was".
