Chinese foreign minister: No winners if Korea war breaks out

The United States has sent an aircraft carrier to the waters off the Korean peninsula and is conducting its largest-ever joint military exercises with South Korea, the AP reported.

It says North Korea will face strong punishment it will find hard to withstand if it makes a significant provocation, such as another nuclear test or an intercontinental ballistic missile launch.

While Trump has put North Korea on notice that he will not tolerate any more provocation, United States officials have said his administration is focusing its strategy on tougher economic sanctions.

"So that's why. It's not the DPRK but the U.S. and Trump that makes trouble", Mr Han said. The country's official name is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Wang says: Once a war really happens, the result will be nothing but multiple-loss.

Han said the sanctions approach is misguided and cited the opening ceremony of a sprawling new high-rise residential area in Pyongyang on Thursday as evidence that sanctions have failed to ruin the country's economy. "No one can become a victor", Wang told reporters at a news conference with French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault. If not, we will solve the problem without them!

A North Korean soldier on Saturday walks as he is on guard at the Yalu River in Sinuiju, North Korea, which borders Dandong of China's Liaoning province. "No matter who it is, if it wants to make war or trouble on the Korean Peninsula, it must take the historical responsibility and pay the due price".

"The closer large targets approach [North Korea], including the U.S. nuclear aircraft carrier, the more effective the annihilating strike will be", the General Staff said.

Pence's trip to South Korea was a sign of the United States commitment to its ally in the face of rising tension, aides said.

Military experts generally agree a shooting war with North Korea would likely be far more costly than something along the lines of the recent targeted strike Trump ordered against a Syrian air base believed to be linked to a chemical weapons attack by the regime of Bashir Assad.

"Trump is always making provocations with his aggressive words".

After the meeting between Trump and Xi, U.S. Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson said that he is hopeful China will "exercise influence over North Korea's actions to dismantle their nuclear weapons and their missile technology programs".

Many North Korea watchers believe the country could have a viable nuclear warhead and a ballistic missile capable of hitting the USA mainland within the next few years.

"Currently, with the cooperation of 'somebody, ' the planning to collapse our system, the action that is such a naïve and foolish delusion", the latter part of the Friday statement, released by the Institute for Disarmament and Peace (IDP) of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, said. Any fighting on the Korean Peninsula is likely to draw in China, which has repeatedly expressed concerns about a wave of refugees and the possible presence of US and South Korean troops on its border.

The US sent a navy strike group towards the Western Pacific in a show of force, which led to North Korea responding with warnings of a nuclear attack in retaliation.

Pyongyang, meanwhile, recently launched a ballistic missile and some experts have said it could conduct another nuclear test at virtually any time.
