Uttar Pradesh Approves Rupees 36359 Crore Loan Waiver for Farmers

The waiver applies to Rs 30,729 crore of loans taken by these farmers against seeds for wheat and paddy crops, besides pesticides and fertilisers. Congress spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the farm loan waiver was a step in the right direction but inadequate.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while declaring waiving loan of farmers, had not classified the beneficiaries", he said, terming the UP government's move as an "eye wash".
Ever since Yogi Adityanath sworn in as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, he has been on headlines either for his decision on giving the key roles to honest ministers or promises made to the people, regarding the development of the state. He later met the PM asking him to waive off their loans. In turn, the UP government would float Farmers' Relief Bond to the tune of Rs.36,359 crore.
Although there is no Constitutional compulsion of convening the first Cabinet meeting within a certain period, traditionally the ruling party has held it within a week or so of forming the government.
The UP government under BJP has waived off crop loans taken from banks with a cap of Rs. 1 lakh for the fiscal year 2016-17.
Announcing the government's decision, Adityanath also revealed that under his leadership at least six All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) like institutes will be built in Uttar Pradesh. "People will be benefited by this", said a farmer. Meanwhile, SAD said that the loan waiver promise should not be linked with the demand for a Central package and the state government was finding escape routes to run away from its promise on loan waiver.

Maurya will head one more committee of three members to report within a week how to check illegal mining. Deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma who is also the education minister along with, technical education minister Ashutosh Tandon and minister of state for education Sandeep Singh are expected to attend Monday evening's presentation.
