Tillerson said the United States is hopeful it can help bring parties together to begin the process of hammering out a political solution.
In Florida with the president, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said additional economic sanctions on Syria were being prepared.

Moscow has promised to strengthen Syria's anti-aircraft defences. Even The New York Times's Nicholas Kristoff tweeted that Trump "is right to make Syria pay a price for war crimes, and taking out airfields is the best approach".
