LA Lakers topped by Golden State Warriors in season finale

As the Warriors end another wonderful regular season and start what may very well become their most incredible post-season, I'll spend this intermission with my memories.

With Ennis running the point, the Lakers finished with all five starters scoring in double figures, even if LA could not keep up with the Warriors' shooting. Los Angeles has less than a 50 percent chance of earning a top-three pick in the lottery. However, when a team like Golden State stays at the top and plays with the passion that they do, their opponents are going to aim to give them their best.

So, the Lakers (26-56) cap the season missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, while Lakers coach Luke Walton views the Warriors (67-15) as the "best team in the league". "Tonight, he was spectacular with his shooting".

"Our main focus is finishing this season out with momentum, but it's also a really important time for the franchise coming up in the next couple of months", Walton said. I got a few dunks.

Durant's 27 minutes were right in line with the 31 and 33 he logged in his first two games back from a sprained knee.

With Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala resting, the Warriors played all 11 available players on the roster.

Barnes doubtful: Warriors forward Matt Barnes probably won't play in Game 1 of the first-round playoff series against Portland, head coach Steve Kerr said.

It's been a insane 82-game season, with some great ups to start things off, a middle-portion of the season we'd all rather forget, and an unpredictable ending. That's an extremely rare skill set, as according to Basketball Reference, Green is on pace to become just the sixth player in NBA history to play at least 20 minutes per game and post block (.033) and steal (.030) rates of three percent or greater within a single season.

Most importantly, the Warriors escaped the last game of the season without any injuries, aside from Zaza Pachulia leaving the game for a bit, but he would return later so all signs point to him being fine. Overall I felt good on the defensive end.

No such luck was required Tuesday night, when the Lakers ran their streak to five games.

Lakers Projected Starting Lineup: PG - D'Angelo Russell, SG - Jordan Clarkson, SF - Brandon Ingram, PF - Julius Randle, C - Ivica Zubac.

The way this season ended was drastically different than a year ago, with the Warriors fighting for every win last season. Almost six months later, the Lakers concluded the 2016-17 season with another reminder of how wide that gap remains.
