Hundreds Gather at Candlelight Vigil for Victims of San Bernardino School Shooting

Police said Anderson was able to enter the school by simply telling the front office staff he had something to drop off for his wife.

Cedric Anderson and Karen Elaine Smith had been married for just over two months before the shooting. The man who fatally shot his estranged wife and a student in her San Bernardino elementary school classroom before killing himself had threatened her when she moved out of their house, authorities said Tuesday.

The San Bernardino City Unified School District said the students were evacuated to nearby Cajon High School to be reunited with parents. Attorneys for Anderson and Cushman & Wakefield did not return calls.

Burguan confirmed during a Tuesday press conference that a family member told investigators Anderson made an allegation of infidelity against Smith and that she had mentioned his behavior was odd.

Her mother said it was enough to break up with him and pursue divorce.

The couple divorced in 1997.

But affected children also have "extraordinary gifts", including a passion for music and extremely friendly personalities, an expert said. She told authorities he then picked up a set of keys on the coffee table and threw them at her, just missing her and hitting the wall.

Mary Fields, a fellow teacher, said Smith loved kids.

Smith's four grown children are understandably devastated.

"They knew nothing about the crisis they were in", Marsden said. Jonathan had Williams syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by learning delays, mild intellectual disability and heart problems, Superintendent Dale Marsden said.

"Unlike disorders that can make connecting with your child hard, children with Williams syndrome tend to be social, friendly and endearing", Marsden said.

A 9-year-old classmate who also was wounded was watching cartoons and expected to recover, officials said.

A candlelight vigil was planned for the victims Tuesday evening at North Park Elementary.

Anderson and his wife looked like happy newlyweds on Facebook.

"He told her he would throw her out the window".

The gunman's "relatively short" marriage and his alleged history of crime and drug use preceded the attack at the grade school, according to police.

This undated photo released by the San Bernardino Police Department shows Cedric Anderson, 53. He said Anderson wasn't employed but previously had work as a maintenance worker and a pastor. LifeStream is a local, nonprofit blood bank that provides blood products and services to more than 80 Southern California hospitals. The pair had been married since January 28, but had already been separated for several weeks. He kept his weapon concealed until opening fire in the classroom without saying a word, then reloaded and shot himself to death.

Two male students, who were injured as Anderson fired at his wife, were transported to hospitals for treatment. The deeply religious Navy veteran had believed Smith, a special education teacher, was unfaithful and the two were separated.
