She will return for the last two episodes of Supergirl season 2, giving fans an extra helping of Cat Grant compared to Clark Kent. A regular in Season 1, the Ally McBeal alumna took on a lesser role as a recurring guest star for Season 2 in the wake of the show moving production from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Flockhart was initially supposed to recur throughout the season but has remained absent since her character's departure.
With Cat Grant and Superman both returning for the finale, it looks like Supergirl is now the superhero show to beat. No details are available yet as to what leads to Cat's return, but with Tyler Hoechlin donning the Superman outfit once again for the finale, it looks like Supergirl is pulling out all the stops for its biggest episode yet. The actress doesn't want to move out from Los Angeles for a longer period, so she chose to quit in the "Supergirl" Season 2. The only firm connection to CatCo at present is James Olsen, who is working as the boss following Cat's departure.
"Supergirl wouldn't be Supergirl without the fantastic Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant", executive producer Andrew Kreisberg commented last August when it was first announced that Flockhart had agreed to appear in a recurring role.
