Tacking on the Rick and Morty universe makes for a dynamic combo though, which we really loved when we checked it out at PAX West.
Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality will be available to play on the HTC Vive via Steam and Oculus Rift via Oculus Home. You can walk around rooms and through portals and fake doors, and get yelled at by Rick. Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, Adult Swim Games and Olwchemy Labs' virtual reality experience based on the network's hit sci-fi comedy, is scheduled to be released on 4/20 (nice).
It's unclear whether those worlds will be familiar to fans of the show ("Aw man, Buttworld again?") or completely new, both of which are perfectly plausible considering how heavily the show delves into multiverse theory, presenting an endless number of alternate realities.
"Experience life as a clone of Morty and all the trauma that comes with it", it says. You'll also get a chance explore Rick's lab, garage and home.
Earlier this month Adult Swim made a decision to ease off the anxiety on Rick and Morty fans' minds by releasing the very first episode of the third season of the brassy science fiction comedy series disguised as an April Fool's joke. It took many people, including myself, some time to even believe it was real, as the season had been taking so long to arrive. Since the remaining episodes won't appear till summer, Virtual Rick-ality will hopefully help make the wait a little easier.
Show creator and principal voice actor Justin Roiland has already published a VR experience through his newly created studio Squanchtendo that's delivered a mix of his signature brand of freakish and absurdity called Accounting. Gamers will salve puzzles from different missions, and will be able to "probe, prod, throw, and smash iconic items like the Plumbus", and other items from the show.
