Pearl Mackie wants to star in Bond movie

On playing the same role for a long period, he reflected: "I've never done anything for any length of time".

And, revealing he's keen to try his hand at other acting jobs, he added: 'I've always gone from one job to the other and seen what was around the corner and I want to get back to that'.

She told The Guardian: "When I was little there weren't that many people who looked like me on TV, so it's great to have two little kids thinking, "OK, she looks like me so I'm going to dress up as her, and I don't need a different kind of face make-up, I don't need to straighten my hair".

The actor, who will be leaving after this year's Christmas special, explained how his character has changed over the duration of his performance.

Pearl Mackie, who plays the Doctor's new gay companion Bill, said: "Series 10 is a lot to do with the relationship between the Doctor, Bill and Nardole [an alien played by Matt Lucas]".

"Very few Doctors are the same when they finish as when they started", he said.

The 29-year-old actress, who has been cast as the Time Lord's new sidekick Bill Potts in the upcoming series, said she has already got her eyes on a big screen role.

But asked if she'd want to play "Jane" Bond rather than James, Pearl replied: "Nah nah, James".

"I've been looking at some of the effects for episode 4 and you think, 'Oh my god, are we putting that on television?!'" he continued. I just thought it would be amusing if he played the guitar. But I didn't really know the show like a fan would.
