Rajon Rondo was ruled out with a sprained wrist meaning Jerian Grant had to start and Grant scored 15 points.
Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie (8) shoots over Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis (5) during the first quarter at Barclays Center.
In the scrap for the last spot in the West, Damian Lillard scored a franchise-record 59 points to power the Portland Trail Blazers to a 101-86 win over the Utah Jazz which puts them one-and-a-half games ahead of the chasing Denver Nuggets with two left to play.
One such stretch came when the Bulls sank 10 or more 3-pointers in seven straight games, their longest stretch since the 1983-84 season. The Nets average 106.2 points per game on offense while the defense is giving up 112.6 per game. Instead, he was on the bench for a rest in his first game in almost a month.
Dwyane Wade scrimmaged during parts of the Chicago Bulls' workout at Temple University and could return from his fractured right elbow before the end of the regular season. "It's just my legs. Hope we'll get him back in the lineup here soon".
Wade fouled Dinwiddie the next time down on what appeared to be more miscommunication on a pick and roll, resulting in two free throws with 13 seconds left. He then caught on with Chicago's D-League affiliate and played nine games before the Brooklyn signed him to a multi-year deal in December.
The Bulls have played to the level of their competition all season. Everybody is a grown man in here, and I feel like they know that we must win these games if we want to find ourselves in the postseason.
The 39-40 Bulls, who received 22 points from Nikola Mirotic and 19 from Jimmy Butler, remained seventh in the Eastern Conference. It's not how a team should be playing when they're fighting for their playoff lives. With Brook shielding his way to the basket, Butler is forced to go to the corner and take a fadeaway three, which he misses. "Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done".
The only reason it wasn't a completely flawless night for the young star is because of teammate Bobby Portis, who got a little bit carried away with a celebration during the big win.
Dwyane Wade was declared finished for the season around the time Chicago's season was all but over. The Bulls have won both meetings with the Nets this season, but the two split the spread. And after Lopez's hard close-out forced Butler to finally miss with 5.4 left, Dinwiddie ran down the rebound and iced it at the stripe.
The Bulls absorbed their second loss in the last three games.
"Early on you could tell he had a little rust", Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg said. "I'm sure we'll have to have a little bit of a restriction on his minutes, but hopefully get him back in a rhythm these last few games". We're right there. But we got to figure out a way to pull these games out. The ball kept moving, which led to more fast break points and open threes.
Wade is coming back at an opportune time for the Bulls.
It's a W=L world right now for NY, and yeah, the Knicks beat the decently hot Chicago Bulls 100-91.
Rookie forward, Dario Saric (shah-RICH), posted a career-high 32 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while fellow Philly freshman, Shawn Long, came off the bench to add 18 points and seven rebounds in just his ninth National Basketball Association game.
