USA strike group heads towards Korean peninsula

On Saturday, the U.S. officials announced that aircraft carrier strike group was sent to the Korean peninsula amid rising tensions with North Korea.

North Korea used Trump's recent attack on Syria to justify the country's continued weaponry progress, describing the USA airstrike on Syria as "absolutely unpardonable", the Associated Press reported.

According to USA intelligence, North Korea may be in a position to have a nuclear missile capable of hitting U.S. soil within two years.

After the meeting with the Chinese, it seems the on the brink of updating its approach to North Korea.

Last August, Pyongyang also successfully test-fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile 500 kilometers towards Japan, far exceeding any previous sub-launched tests, in what the North's leader Kim Jong-Un hailed as the "greatest success".

President Donald Trump, fresh from ordering a missile strike on Syria that was widely interpreted as a warning to North Korea, has asked his advisors for a range of options to rein in Pyongyang, a top U.S. official said Sunday.

The carrier group includes the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, with support from several missile destroyers and missile cruisers.

"U.S. Pacific Command ordered the Carl Vinson Strike Group north as a prudent measure to maintain readiness and presence in the Western Pacific", said Cmdr.

On ABC's "This Week", Secretary of State Rex Tillerson suggested the USA missile strikes in Syria should send a message to any country, including North Korea, that operating outside worldwide norms is unacceptable.

"They have indicated that they will, and I think we need to allow them time to take actions", Tillerson said.

"All options are on the table".

A US missile attack on a Syrian airbase Thursday night escalated tensions between the USA and Russian Federation.

"The proving itself that it can really take action if you play with chemical weapons like Syria", Lee said.

Now, Japan warns that it will intervene in any attacks made by the USA toward North Korea.

In early March, North Korea launched five medium-range Scud missiles, four of which traveled more than 600 miles, the upper limit of their range, before plunging into the Sea of Japan.

Mr Kim has said previously his regime is close to developing a ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead to continental US.

On Friday, the USA carried out a missile strike on the Shayrat airfield near Homs in response to an alleged chemical attack on a rebel-held town in Idlib province, the blame for which Washington pinned on Syrian President Bashar Assad.

North Korea boasts that is has developed long-range missiles that could reach Australia.
