Trump Models Is Reportedly Closing

It was not immediately clear when exactly the modeling agency, which is still listed on The Trump Organization website, would close. Maggie Rizer, a star of the '90s, took to Instagram in November past year, to explain the political motivations that drove her to walk away from her long standing association with the agency.

"The Trump Organization is choosing to exit the modeling industry", the president of Trump Models, Corinne Nicolas, told business associates in a weekend email, according to Mother Jones.

The agency was founded by Trump in 1999, and according to his most recent financial disclosures, he owned an 85% stake in the company. "We were a very tight group and worked very well together", a former Trump Models agent told The Hollywood Reporter.

Nicolas did not specify when Trump Models would be closing its doors.

Earlier this year, Business Insider interviewed two former Trump models.

Founded in 1999, the New York based agency had been in major turmoil since last September, when suspicions surfaced during New York Fashion Week that the fashion industry had made a decision to stop casting models from the agency. "On the heels of the recent sale of the Miss Universe Organization, the company is choosing to focus on their core businesses in the real estate, golf and hospitality space".

Canadian model Rachel Blais told the magazine past year that she booked jobs in the USA without a work visa, including for appearances on Trump's "Apprentice" reality TV program.

But he came under further backlash from political opponents and ethics experts for refusing to divest fully from the conglomerate.
